| Q1: | "hey welcome S Endz! :)
" |
Hey.....nice to be here doing this Tweeterview :)
| Q2: | "Is this your first tweeterview?" |
Using this new Tweeterview website, yeah....but myself and @desirock did an interview before over Twitter with DesiHits website..
| Q3: | "Oh cool! I gotta say (myself) I have nine tats, and I know you have some tattoos... what are your tats and the meaning beh.." |
| Q4: | "..ind them?" |
Ah, you're more experienced than me when it comes to tattoos then! I just have the one right now, a gothic 'S' on my left arm...
| Q5: | "Do you plan to get anymore? " |
Yes, getting a second one soon. I have a few different ideas though so I'm not sure what to pick first!
| Q6: | "According to your tweets you are always at the studio, what's keeping you so busy?" |
I have two main priorities currently. One is finishing my debut solo album 'Emanate' which is probably about 75% finished right..
.. now. The second is writing and recording the new Swami (@swamimusic) album with Diamond (@desirock).
It's already shaping up as our best album to date. We have around 20 songs that we are currently working on.
| Q7: | "Have you faced any road blocks with trying to complete your solo album?" |
it's not always easy to find the time to do everything.I'm producing most of the album myself as well as writing the songs so i..
..t takes time. I'm really happy with how it's coming along though. I originally wanted it out this year but you have to take y..
..our time. I think people will dig it.
| Q8: | "Would it be easier if you could just clone yourself?" |
| Q9: | ":)
" |
| Q10: | "It's better when artists don't set a date for releases isn't it? " |
Yeah, absolutely! It would have to be a robot clone though ideally, so that I could control it's actions.
I think so. I don' t want to state a definitive date & then let ppl down by having to postpone it. It'll be ready when it's done!
| Q11: | "I could see you as a S Endz (Johnny 5) unit, remember the short circut movie? " |
Of course!!! The theme song, "Who's Johnny" by El Debarge is one of my favorite 80's pop jams!!! Love it.
| Q12: | "What can Swami's fans expect from his upcoming album?" |
You mean 'our' upcoming album!
| Q13: | "Yeah :) " |
Well it's a shift for us because there won't be any punjabi vocals on it. It's an all English international pop album....
Which will be released by a major US label.
It's more progressive and commercial than any Swami album to date. All vocals by myself, Sups, and Liana.
| Q14: | "You really plan to push it mainstream in the US market?" |
We're all really excited about it. It's pure danceable electro pop with some desi and rock influences.
The US pop market is our main focus with this album.
| Q15: | "Would you like to settle in the US if things go well with the album" |
Jay Sean has shown the labels that the desi community can really be mobilized to get behind their own artists which is a gd thing!
| Q16: | "Jay was actually in San Francisco last night " |
Absolutely, and I do plan to move there. I know that @desirock would like to as well.
| Q17: | "But a lot of the desi folks are disappointed (not because of his success) but they feel like he's forgetting his desi root.." |
| Q18: | "..s" |
I can see why people say that. I think there is still enough desi in our music 4 that not to happen w/ us, even with no punjabi..
.. vox in the songs. We'll see!
I know that some long term Swami fans are going to be disappointed with that, but it's a risk we want to take.
| Q19: | "You mentioning the "major US label" do you think you will face the same problem when it comes to putting desi beats in fut.." |
| Q20: | "..ure projects" |
Well I mean aside from the Punjabi vox, 'Sugarless' for example is a pop song. So people shouldn't be too surprised. We've neve..
..r tried to be a traditional band or claim to represent anyone other than ourselves, and obviously we have a mix of people in ..
..the band like I'm mixed race and Liana is white....people already say we've "forgotten our roots" lol, but we don't care much..
.. for that kind of backwards mentality.
| Q21: | "I see your work as more eclectic, which really makes you stand out from other artists and producers" |
| Q22: | "Its funny when i was living in the hayes UK area (with my friend whose Punjabi) the punjabi neighbors were like "do u know.." |
| Q23: | ".. u have a gori" |
| Q24: | "living with you" |
| Q25: | "Does Liana dig Indian food? :)" |
LOL! That's funny. Yeah, she does, although she can't handle too much spice unlike the rest of us!!!
To her credit, we took her to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chandigarh and she was fine and loved it!
| Q26: | "Chandigarh is beautiful! did you guys go to the rock garden?" |
I think she was a little overwhelmed when she first joined the band but she's used to it now!
We didn't! Diamond has been there before and said we should go but our schedule was too hectic on that trip!
Our record label in India had booked us some great hotels but because of the mad schedule we didn't even get to sleep in most o..
..f them! Sob sob.
| Q27: | "It's quite an experience, I took Mixman Shawn there who produced Jasmine Sandlas "Muskan" poor guy got so bored!" |
LOL, well maybe we'll get a chance to check it out next time. I've seen pictures online, it looks pretty cool.
| Q28: | "When will I get to have you co-host a TV show with me? Do you see broadcasting and producing TV shows in your future?" |
Anytime! I would love to! I think so. I made a radio documentary out in LA about Tupac for the BBC back in 2006, and a very fam..
..ous critic here in the UK said that I "clearly have a future in broadcasting" so I'd definitely like to explore that a bit.
I've just been approached to narrate a 20 minute documentary about us (@swamimusic) which should be cool. It's early days right..
.. now though.
| Q29: | "With the Tupac documentary... who do you think killed him?" |
| Q30: | "That would be a great documentary for you to produce! I could so see it on Channel 4 " |
Orlando Anderson killed him....but the real question is who put him up to it. I lean towards goverment/FBI involvement myself.
If you look at the history of the Black Panthers and things like COINTELPRO it is scary...and 'Pac was defo a revolutionary..
and on that subject I want to say RIP Fred Hampton who was killed by the FBI 40 years ago today...
| Q31: | "RIP Fred Hampton , so you think Pac's support and his own family connection with the Black Panthers made him a target for .." |
| Q32: | "..the FBI " |
Absolutely, 'Pac himself was tapped to be the leader of the New Afrikan Panthers at one stage. and through his music he had inf..
..luence over more people than was ever possible for revolutionaries before him....
I think he fit the mold of people like Fred Hampton and Malcolm X before him....
| Q33: | "You are a man of many faces S Endz (producer and artists) and perhaps a historian :) " |
| Q34: | "Has the UK AMA fever hit you yet?" |
Thanks... :) I'm just a fiend for knowledge....knowledge is power....and an insomniac....lol
I couldn't make the press launch because I was in America at the time....but I hope to be involved with the AMA in some form.
We have been involved in various ways with the AMA since it launched....
| Q35: | "Do you think there's any rigging involved? " |
Back in '03 our management company Cigale brought Pras over to perform with Diamond and Apache for example...
That's not really my place to speculate on. No more or less than most other award ceremonies I suppose.
| Q36: | "You're probably right, most of the people who claim "rigging" are sore losers" |
Yeah. I don't think there's much point complaining too much about it if you don't win something you feel you might deserve...
| Q37: | "Tell me more about your dance moves... can you moonwalk?" |
I can actually!! Kind of. It's not one of my stronger moves. I'll be bustin some moves in a future music vid for sure....
| Q38: | "I read about you planning to show off some moves, I wish there was a way for me to get a sneak preview of that now" |
| Q39: | "Where were you when you found out about MJ's passing" |
On tour in Canada with Swami. Me, Sups, Diamond & Liana were in adjacent hotel rooms and we just all sat together watchin the news
| Q40: | "It was unbelievable" |
We were heartbroken. We had a gig the next day in Toronto and covered "The Way You Make Me Feel" with 9,000 ppl singing along...
| Q41: | "Is that one of your favorite MJ tunes? " |
Yes!! The 'Bad' album is my all time favorite album.
I used to watch 'Moonwalker' every day as a kid....trying to do the Smooth Criminal lean and falling over...lol
| Q42: | "LOL I saw Moonwalker in 3D! it was so cool... but Joe Pesci looked scary " |
Joe Pesci was great in that movie!! Very convincing bad guy....lol. Did you ever see Captain EO?
| Q43: | "Think of a song from your own upcoming album, if it was put into a bollywood movie, which actor could you see lip syncing .." |
| Q44: | "..your voice " |
| Q45: | "..your voice " |
| Q46: | "..your voice " |
| Q47: | "opps... tweeterview seems to be having a bad case of the farts" |
| Q48: | "no I never saw Captain EO" |
Honestly I'm not familiar with enough Bollywood actors to be able to make a good choice!!!
Akshay Kumar danced and lipsynced to 'DesiRock' at the Star Screen Awards a few years ago....so maybe him....lol
| Q49: | "LOL or I was going to say Abhishek :) But Akshay works! Do you dig his vocals?" |
Abhishek is pretty gangsta. Akshay's vocals....hmmmm
| Q50: | "No comment? A few sessions with S Endz will put Akshay's vocals in check " |
Yeah I'll show him how it's done.....lol
| Q51: | "It's been so much fun catching up with you, I wish we could of hung out when i was in the UK" |
It's all good. I will be over on the West Coast soon enough, hopefully with the whole band doing some shows :)
So we can hang out then.
| Q52: | "Thank you for kicking off my tweeterview sessions! Let me know how we can help on our end" |
Thanks for being a great tweeterviewer....lol. Good luck with everything at UDR.....and let's talk again soon!
| Q53: | "Bye!!! " |
peace&bewild!
