The tweeterview as recorded:

Q1:
"Vamos a comenzar la twittervista (en inglés) con Antoine Perdaens, @tlg, fundador de la startup belga Knowledge Plaza ..."
Q2:
"...con quien hablaremos de startups, emprendeduría e innovación / empresa 2.0. So first of all, thank you Antoine for your time!"
Q3:
"You founded your startup 3 years ago. What 3 recommendations would you give to someone who's about to start up?"

Thank you for the invite. 1st don't start alone and pick a great partner, 2nd build something that you need, ...

... 3rd test your idea with real users/customers.

Q4:
"So it needs to address a real need?"

Yes! And you have to enjoy addressing it.

Q5:
"At the European Venture Contest, Knowledge Plaza, your startup, was the semifinal winner. How do contests help startups?"

It helps to fine tune your pitch with feedbacks from other participants and the jury. It also helps to grow your network.

Q6:
"so u've been pitching in Europe and in the USA to entrepreneurs, investors. Differences bw European and American mindsets?"

It is quite different and important to pitch in different places if you want to have a product that is globally available..

... the market in Europe is very different than the one in the US (think language, taxes, ...). Also in europe we spend ...

... more time in getting the product finished while in the US entrepreneurs are quick to get their product online.

Q7:
"Interesting, European ares less prone to buggy betas, then :) I also read that the way we look for capital is different..."
Q8:
"...sth like Americans go for private capital, & in Europe we r always thinking about help from public institutions. Do u agree?"

For capital above 1-2M€ you go for public institutions in europe (depending on the country). But you can also find big ...

... angels in europe. The thing is that the ecosystem in high-tech is usually bigger in the US as are valuations ...

... but I know some entrepreneurs that chose to go with european VC's while they had American VC's offers.

Q9:
"I am obliged to ask you why...:)"

Capital always comes at a price (equity but also rules), and sometimes a european VC can be more flexible.

Q10:
"Knowledge Plaza is a collaborative app for companies. What kind of 'innovations' can you foresee for enterprise applications?"

The first innovation happening right now is that the human is back at the center. You will see more interactions ...

... within but also without the enterprise. Social interactions between companies and with clients.

Q11:
"How can 'enterprise social search' help companies foster and drive that 'innovation'?"

There is way too much information produced in the world today. Being able to use your network as a filter will help ...

... individuals to be better informed on subjects that matters to them. Also interaction around this information creates ...

... a conversation that will help new ideas to emerge and using the network to select the ones that have more potential.

Q12:
"With your experience on real user cases: which problems and barriers do you see in businesses to innovate openly?"

Mainly that people are usually reluctant to change and to share. Open Innovation is a change and requires a sharing mindset.

Q13:
"Indeed! Well, Antoine, thank u for your time. Very insightful tweets I’m sure will inspire both entrepreneurs and businesses! "

Thank your for the invitation!

Q14:
"Good luck at the European Venture Contest final!"
