In education, the problem is that the expression creativity is virtually illegal. #invisiblelearning

Our education systems are set up to create loyal industrial workers, not creatives and entrepreneurs. #invisiblelearning

The problem is, today's society is dependent on creatives and innovators. ... #invisiblelearning

Kids today will have to create futures that we cannot even dream of today. #invisiblelearning

We have a lot of policies with good intentions, but they have ultimately ruined the system... #invisiblelearning

At the top of the list are testing regimes that push a very linear, non-imaginative sort of thinking ... #invisiblelearning

Also, we've somehow designed teachers unions to protect teachers more than students in the system ... #invisiblelearning

So, we have a lot of people teaching than probably should. :) #invisiblelearning ...

But, above all, it seems to me that we have lost our capacities to trust kids ... #invisiblelearning

And, lost our capacities to enable kids to apply their creative ideas in innovative ways. #invisiblelearning

Yes! We're building great factory workers! ...but, we've sent all of our factories to China. #invisiblelearning

With the expanding ecology of edu options that tec are affording us, unis need to rethink their roles #invisiblelearning ...

In regard to teacher ed, this means we need to revolutionize teacher recruitment and training. #invisiblelearning ...

We need to attract innovators into the field, and we need to support them, empower them... #invisiblelearning

...and supply them with resources to help them transform schools. #invisiblelearning

The problem is that the teaching profession is not attracting the most innovative people. #invisiblelearning

They move on to do other things, which have higher rewards, unfortunately (i.e., business, engineering) #invisiblelearning

I think that we first need to recognize that it's a problem that we built into the culture of edu... #invisiblelearning

We need to build a new culture where we challenge ourselves to "leapfrog" beyond the contemporary. #invisiblelearning

From a technical standpoint, launching a social network is very easy. #invisiblelearning ...

You just need a domain name and a place to host it. :) From there, it gets trickier. #invisiblelearning ...

You need faith in young techs, and agility to switch them, if necessary... #invisiblelearning

and, it takes a lot of work to get the network "alive" in terms of member participation. #invisiblelearning

It's "invisible" because we're looking at the space between (and incl) formal, nonformal and informal edu #invisiblelearning

And, because "invisible" is a common word en espanol and in English. :)

I think that 20 years ago, it would have been impossible... #invisiblelearning

but, today, we are so interconnected and building awareness of each other that it's possible. #invisiblelearning ...

Moreover, I feel that it is becoming an imperative to share and co-develop our innovative ideas. #invisiblelearning ...

We have a lot to learn from each other, and now we have the tools to do it. #invisiblelearning ...

I don't think of it as much of a utopia as I view it as the reality of our interconnected world. #invisiblelearning

It's easy to think of innovations that have transformed the world, but it is hard to think of any that have come from edu...

(I think the last major innovation from edu came in 1657 when Jan Amos Comenius publisshed Orbus Sensualium Pictus.) ...

I would like to see edu take up more design and innov principles and help students incubate ideas. #invisiblelearning

The interesting thing is that they're planning to build this school in a community in the Netherlands. #invisiblelearning ..

My hope is that this will transform into a platform for spreading great ideas for educational innovation! #invisiblelearning

From what I understand, it's all tied into a local, community-based (re)development initiative. #invisiblelearning

The second is Knowmads, who are starting a different type of school in NL http://bit.ly/tMiFj and http://bit.ly/3zOvAj

The interesting bit about Knowmads is that they are focused on developing creative innovators. :) #invisiblelearning

We need to co-facilitate teaching and learning b/c we are all teachers and learners. #invisiblelearning

We need to focus on creative design b/c we have never been to the future before, and we all are responsible for designing it
