Q1:
"Hi Nicole, &thx for agreeing to be interviewed via Twitter! :)"

No worries at all! This is going to be interesting :)

More on Q1...
So we're talking talking Twestival, or Twitter Festival, so does it feel weird,or all kinds of right,to be doing an interview like this? ;)

Heh, it feels new and pretty rad to be honest. So suitable for @bnetwestival!

Q2:
"Your tweet stream says you've just come back from one of the final #bnetwestival meetings. Any hot goss or late breaking news?"

We've got the final preps nearly done and that we're all getting very excited about Friday. It's going to be very busy and quite a festival.

Q3:
"In 140char or less, what is Twestival abt,&what do you hope #bnetwestival will achieve?"

@Twestival = intl charity events by volunteer-tweeps. In Feb $0.25m was raised; we want $5000 for @inspire_aus & help awareness of suicide.

@inspire_aus = non-profit that utilises information communication technology to improve the mental health & well-being of 14-25 year olds.

Q4:
"Using ICT to improve mental health is a neat tie-in to social network communities. So that seems to be a good fit for #bnetwestival"

Definitely. It's a cause I believe in & many tweeps do too. Social media is so awesome in that it can help so effectively.

More on Q4...
What is it that makes social media so effective?

Immediacy. Also difficult topics can be discussed w/o face-2-face contact. Shyness can be slowly overcome + help sought. Like help hotlines.

I just want to prove to everyone that technology isn't an enemy or geek think. It's working on real-world solutions.

So many young people are going through tough times. They should be able to get help how they can. More are giving up phones for the Internet

So yes, @inspire_aus is definitely a suitable charity for @bnetwestival :) I'm very proud to be supporting them.

Q5:
"This is the 2nd Twestival. The 1st in February really proved the success of social media organising. So what happened there?"

Feb Twestival was done in ~3 wks. @lexiphanic & I headed a fab team. We raised the largest $ in the southern hemisphere; 15th in the world!

We had raffle, bands, dancing, art auction, lolly stall, badge stall, and a live page on the website. It was a great achievement.

In Feb we had to do a lot of explaining of what Twitter was and who @charitywater was. Now we only have to explain what @inspire_aus does!

Exactly,it's not like anyone's asking "what's Twitter?" these days!

So how has the Brisbane Twitter community grown in the last 6mths
Q6:
"So how has the Brisbane Twitter community grown in the last 6mths"

Amazingly! I'm a moderator for the @BTUB community; the expansion at these has astronomically grown since March. So much fun we have :)

People always assume Twitter is full of gen y-ers. Most false thing I've heard about Twitter. Twitter in Australia is fantastically diverse.

More on Q6...
Quick description of @btub for those not in the know? Appropriate, seeing as it's that large community that makes #bneTwestival possible

Pretty much! Brisbane Twitter community. We host social events and have a lot of fun both on- and offline. http://btub.org has the calendar

Q7:
"Alright, some basics abt @twestival - where? what time? how much? and what will be some #bneTwestival highlights?"

#BNEtwestival is at @joshuagalleries, open 6pm, $18. The Ride, @GoldCoastGirl, @TheSoandSos, @Comp1stSeason, Bertie Page, The Gentlemen...

...live graffiti art, tattooist [real!], art auction, and soooo many kick-arse prizes to win!

Oh! And cupcakes! This Friday. It's all-ages too. Tickets sold online and at the door. http://www.amiando.com/bnetwestival.html

Q8:
"What wld you say to the skeptics who think Twitter is just #pointlessbabble, &do u think coming to see #BNEtwestival wld change their mind?"

The poor souls. :P I definitely think it would help change their mind. I'm trying to convince my dad of social media's power , personally!

I think that most people are wanting to do good things, they just don't know where to start. Technology helps connect these people. Inspires

Twitter really is the best thing I've gotten into for a very long time. I would love more people to get this feeling too.

And anyway, if the Twitter skeptics come to #bnetwestival, they can at least have a cupcake, a badge and see some great entertainment!

Q9:
"There's a lot of work & donated entertainment/art that goes into making #twestival happen. Ppl might say $5000 return is little reward for.."
More on Q9...
.. the charity,so how important are sponsors in making sure this gets off the ground? Has it been difficult to get backing & is the amount..
More on Q9...
.. raised worth the effort being put in?

Twestival wouldn't have a hope without sponsors. I don't think any charity would knock back a twestival - $, exposure. Sponsors see this.

#BNEtwestival's major sponsor is http://www.mxitlifestyle.com, a brand new mobile technology from South Africa. Demos on the night! Woot!

We also have http://www.thinkfresh.net.au on board and http://freepetrol.com.au too. @Greystonebar will be our awesome after-party venue.

The fact is that we wouldn't be able to party or give @inspire_aus the event it deserves without these bodies. We're very glad to have them.

In terms of whether we raise a "worthwhile amount" of money for @inspire_aus' projects... you'll have to come along and see!

Q10:
"I've already got my ticket :P Thanks for taking the (considerable) time to talk to me Nicole, and look forward to seeing you Friday night!"

Pleasure, mate! See you at #bnetwestival :D
